Pattern making & CAD course |
This course is focussed on a strongly professional hands-on approach towards learning traditional industrial prototyping techniques to be combined with courses on specialized skills required by manufacturers: the use of Fashion CAD. The course teaches all the aspects linked with the design of all types of wearing apparel aimed at mass production methods. The course is based on all the designing and tailoring skills required of designers in mass-production industry.

Instruments and materials
The students are provided with all necessary instruments and materials for course work. Professional Fashion Software suite (Lectra), Web Reserved Area, Internet Wireless connection, lecture notes and text books, fabrics

Course program
- Design for mass-production of jackets, trousers, shirts, bodices, skirts, coats.
Material analysis and fabric characteristics.
- The various fashion drawings transformations. Clothing interior analysis for lining, toile/muslin and adhesive fabric models. Drawing up an initial specification sheet.
- Estimating fabric, lining, toile/muslin, adhesive fabric quantities. Cutting process: mass-production layout/marking and cutting. Creation techniques and process for first sample garment. Fitting: first sample fitting.
- Defect elimination techniques. Including fashion drawing in specification sheet. Spec. sheet upgrading.
- Instructions and creation of an adjusted pattern model (increased, curved, reversed bust form)
Instructions for creating the adjusted model are provided during class lessons.
